MD Siddha Noi Nadal system of medicine is an ancient traditional system that originated in South India. It is believed to be one of India’s oldest documented systems of medicine which is based on a combination of ancient medicinal practices and spiritual disciplines.
MD (Siddha) scientific study of the Nature of diseases, its causes, processes, development and consequences. The Department provides a deep theoretical knowledge on in two major forms – General and Systemic.
The practical knowledge with patient’s blood, urine and other samples are conducted to teach the students the proper ways of diagnosing a disease, collectively called Clinical Pathology. Although it is mainly practised in the southern part of India, its importance and reach have grown globally across the world.
Eligibility Criteria for MD (Siddha)
1. Candidate in possession of B.S.M.S, pass certificate recognized as per the provisions of the IMCC 1970 Act and possess a permanent or provisional certificate of B.S.M.S degree issued by the University.
2. The candidates should have registered their names either in State Council of Indian Medicine or Central Council of Indian Medicine.
3. The upper age limit for NEET (UG) as on the date of examination with relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL category and PwD Candidates.
4. A candidate belonging to OPEN Category and EWS Category must have obtained not less than 50% (i.e. 150 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination.
Admission Process
Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Siddha Noi Nadal is a three-year full-time course offered by Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai, and approved by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM).
Based on the marks obtained in the All India AYUSH PG Entrance Examination (AIAPGET) conducted by Ministry of AYUSH and Counseling held in this Institute, the students are selected and admitted to M.D (Siddha) Course.
Career after MD (Siddha)
Siddha medicine has gained a lot of popularity globally because of its benefits and acceptance as a traditional and complementary system of medicine. Once a student completes his/her Bachelor of Sidhha Medicine and Surgery( BSMS ) he or she has to register with the State Council of Indian Medicine/ Central Council of Indian Medicine to be eligible for practising Siddha medicine all over India.
Appointments are also catered for in Central Government Health scheme (CGHS) wherein Siddha graduates get appointed as Medical Officers in CGHS wellness centres in cities like Chennai and Delhi. Various openings at different levels are also available for Siddha graduates under the Ministry of AYUSH.
The Kerala Government also has employment opportunities for Siddha doctors in its Indian medicine dispensaries.
